Say it over Jerusalem. Say it over the Golan. Say it over your own house.

When Moses went up the mountain the third time, tradition counts forty days: from the first of Elul to Yom Kippur, the day he came down carrying forgiveness. Israel walks those same forty days every year. The month of Elul, when the teaching says the King is in the field, then the Days of Awe, then the sealing of the gate.

Through this season, in many communities twice a day, Israel adds one psalm to its prayers: Psalm 27. For weeks on end, a whole people rehearses one sentence: do not be afraid.

This page keeps the count with you. One verse of the psalm each day, in the Hebrew and in the English, and one prayer focus for the land. If you miss a day, do not go back for it. The watch is today.
