More Than Watchmen

The land goes dark, and the watch begins. Scroll, and walk the night with us toward morning.

On your walls, O Jerusalem,
I have set watchmen.

Basalt under your hands, stars over your head. All day and all night they are never silent.

Isaiah 62:6

One by one, the lamps are lit.

From the Golan to the nations, a wall of watchmen keeps the night in prayer for Israel. One light, then another, until the wall is lit. Each lamp here is a symbol of that prayer.

My soul waits for the Lord
more than watchmen wait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning.

נפשי לאדני משמרים לבקר שמרים לבקר

Psalm 130:6

The morning comes. Until it does, the wall holds. If you would take a watch of your own, there is a place on the wall for you.
